Because Only Together We Can

Build leaders through mentoring

who we are

A Few Good MENtors, Inc. (AFGM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that mentors young men ages 8–21 in Northern Virginia and beyond. We pair them with experienced, character-driven men who invest consistent time, guidance, and accountability into their lives.

Our mentors operate through the S.H.I.E.L.D.S. framework — seven areas of development that shape the whole person: Spirituality, Health, Integrity, Education, Leadership, Development, and Stewardship.

We believe every young man deserves someone in his corner. AFGM puts them there.

what we know

AFGM Mentors believe every young male can benefit from a mentor to help navigate through life. Mentors will meet or contact assigned mentees a minimum of one-hour weekly. The goal is for mature men to help younger males develop into mature men.

The purpose of mentoring is to provide a consistent presence in the lives of mentees, help guide them with decisions, and encourage them to see what they can do with their lives.

AFGM has become a vital part of our support system

We asked a Mom why she wanted her son to be a part of A Few Good MENtors, Inc. She said she needed men with good character, who had integrity and willing to guide my son to live a disciplined life. I highly recommend this organization.
